goodcounsel named Chicago’s “Best Firm For Startups”

We awoke recently to congratulatory email messages from colleagues and friends. “Above the Law,” a notable online publication that covers the legal scene, published an article entitled “The Loop Elite: The Go-To Law Firms of Chicago,” identifying the top law firms in Chicago across 21 different categories, and there we were – named the “Best Firm For Startups.” It was something to behold little old goodcounsel, dwelling among legal giants like Sidley Austin, McDermott, Winston, and Jones Day, as well as prestigious established boutiques such as Novack & Macey and Bartlit Beck (where I was a summer associate in 1995, in their very first class.)

The only bone I have to pick with a very kind firm description is the reference to me as an “erstwhile entrepreneur.” I simply consider myself an entrepreneur — full stop. I can point to a number of initiatives here at goodcounsel to prove that my entrepreneurial credentials are current!

In any case, the praise is welcome. We will try to live up to it every day. I can hear my grandfather’s voice saying, “Don’t let it go to your head!” We won’t.
